Church Lane in Crosthwaite, as it passes the edge of the southern cemetery. - Church Yard Gate
The gate into the northern end of the original Crosthwaite Church Yard. - Church Lane
Dropping down from the embankment, this is the footbridge over Church Lane in Crosthwaite. - Off the A66
The entrance to the path at the A66 end is a lot less inviting than its counterpart at the Crosthwaite Road end. - The View from the End
The path ends on the verge, behind an unbroken safety barrier, with a view of a lay-by on the other side of the road and Skiddaw beyond. - To Kewsick
At the western end, the path is simply signed "Keswick, avoiding A66rd". - The End of the Road?
With the A66 just ahead, the path has all but disappeared into the undergrowth. - Nearing the End
As we approach the western end of the path, however, the going becomes a lot harder. This might be what happens to railway paths that don't have £8 million lavished on them. - West of the Church
Past the graveyard, returning to the embankment, the path along the old alignment remains clear and easy to walk. - Church Lane Bridge
Ahead is a (comparatively) new wooden footbridge, replacing the original railway bridge across Church Lane in Crosthwaite. - Towards Crosthwaite Church
As the path approaches the Crosthwaite Church, it remains clear and well-defined. - A View of the A66
From the bridge, there's a view of the nearby A66, with Skiddaw and Little Man in the background. - Old Occupation Bridge
About half way along the first stretch from Crosthwaite Road to Crosthwaite Church, there's an old occupation bridge across a footpath leading out towards Applethwaite.
